Analysis: R (xlsx, plyr, dplyr).

Groups we have in dataset are: Everyone, Teen 13+, Mature 17+, Everyone 10+, Adults only 18+, Unrated, “”. But Unrated (2 apps) and “” (1 app) groups aren’t used in this project.

We were looking into the dataset trying to figure out for whom are the apps in the Google Play and what kind of apps people use the most.

The most of the apps in the Google Play are free and targeted for users of any age. And it’s no wonder that Everyone group has the highest number of installations. That’s true for both free and paid apps. But there are also many installations in Teen 13+ for free apps and Everyone 10+ and Mature 17+ for paid apps.

What kind of apps people use the most? People use free apps from Everyone group for communication the most. Social networks among the apps for teens (13+). Again social network among the apps for matures (17+). Game among the apps for children (10+). Sport app among the apps for adults (18+). For paid apps: games and family apps (which are usually the games too) from Everyone group. Social apps – teens (13+). Game – matures (17+). Also game – children (10+).

And in the end we have the list of apps with the highest number of installations among free and paid apps. We can call it the most popular free apps and the most popular paid apps.
